BC Ferries introduces largest double ended ferry in the world.

BC ferries is introducing the first of seven new ferries.  It will be in operation this year and is currently on display in BC.  This is exciting news for BC as a lot of our ferries are aging.

The spring bulbs are starting to come up in our flower pots!

We are still learning the gardening secrets of Vancouver Island.  Last fall, we planted bulbs in our flower pots surrounding the house.  We knew the rabbits would not chew them up in the pots.

The weather is co-operating for the Ladysmith Light up.

In 2006, the light up in Ladysmith was cancelled because of bad weather.  Today is excellent for the occasion.  16,000 people are expected.

Handling the heat wave!

How are we handling the heat wave at Evening Cove!  We open windows at night to let the cool air in and shut them just as the morning sun starts to shine into the south side of the inn. The air conditioning keeps everyone comfortable the rest of the day.  Outside, the water is warm for swimming and the shaded decks provide a relaxing cool spot.  The hammock seems to be in constant shade under the Arbutus tree.  The good news is Environment Canada shows more normal temperatures next week-mid July!
