Handling the heat wave! |
Category: What's New
July 10th, 2007
How are we handling the heat wave at Evening Cove! We open windows at night to let the cool air in and shut them just as the morning sun starts to shine into the south side of the inn. The air conditioning keeps everyone comfortable the rest of the day. Outside, the water is warm for swimming and the shaded decks provide a relaxing cool spot. The hammock seems to be in constant shade under the Arbutus tree. The good news is Environment Canada shows more normal temperatures next week-mid July!...

What summer is at Evening Cove! |
Category: What's New
July 20th, 2006
Summer is watching the butterflies gather constantly at the Butterfly Bush. Summer is picking blueberries and I am told the farm is open on July 28th so I will be gathering my usual amount to make jam, serve our fluffy buttermilk pancakes, scones and crepes with blueberry sauce. Right behind the blueberries come the blackberries. Blackberry jam is in order. Our sourdough waffles with blackberry sauce is popular. Blackberry pie will also be served for dessert. (yes we serve dessert at breakfast) Summer is also enjoying the blue hour. The blue hour is a term coined by a friend of ours. It takes place just at dusk. There is not a cloud in the sky. There is a gentle haze that forms giving the appearance of sky and ocean coming together. You then have the blue hour. Summer is picking a good book and lounging in the hammock at water'd edge or relaxing under the umbrella on the deck above the water. Summer is when the water is very warm and our international guests especially enjoy going for a swim. We have outdoor showers for those that want to wash away the salt water....
